Industrial plants
Laser scanning of industrial sites and process equipment. As-built 3D models at a defined level of detail, LOD 100–500, for design and operational use.
Industrial scanning
We laser-scan industrial sites, production halls, pipework systems and process equipment. Scanning runs without a shutdown and records the as-built state of the whole installation.
The result is a detailed point cloud that serves as the basis for 3D models, for planning refurbishments and production expansions, and for clash detection when new equipment is designed.
- Scanning of production halls and process installations
- Documentation of pipework and distribution systems
- Clash detection
- Checks on deformation and displacement of structures
- Scanning with no production shutdown
3D models with LOD
From the point cloud we build as-built 3D models at a defined level of detail, from LOD 100 to LOD 500. We choose the level according to the purpose of the model: from a schematic representation to a precise as-built model.
The models support the design of new equipment, refurbishment planning, clash detection and operational documentation. We deliver them in formats compatible with CAD and BIM systems.
- LOD 100: schematic representation
- LOD 200: approximate dimensions and shapes
- LOD 300: precise geometric model
- LOD 400–500: as-built model with complete documentation
- CAD/BIM export (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks)

What working with us looks like
From specifying the requirements to integrating the 3D model into your design system.
Specification
We define the LOD required, the scope of the scanning and the output formats, and coordinate with site operations.
Scanning
Data capture in the running plant, with no shutdown. We check coverage and data quality on site.
Modelling
We build the 3D model at the required LOD, covering pipework, structures and process equipment.
Integration
Export to CAD and BIM systems (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks), with clash detection and as-built documentation.
What clients ask
What is LOD and which level of detail should I choose?
LOD (level of detail) sets how detailed the 3D model is, from schematic geometry to individual components (LOD 100–500). We recommend the right level for the intended use; designing replacement pipework runs usually calls for a higher LOD.
Can you scan while the plant is running?
Yes. Laser scanning is contactless and fast, and we coordinate the survey with site operations so that production is not held up.
How much does scanning a process installation cost?
The price depends on the extent of the equipment, how complex the plant is and the level of detail required in the model (LOD). We will send a free, no-obligation quote within 48 hours.
What CAD and BIM formats will we get?
Point clouds in E57 and LAS, and models in DWG or RVT (AutoCAD, Revit), ready for designing refurbishments and equipment replacements.
